William O’Neal was born a Quaker on 15 Nov 1734 at Christiana, New Castle Co., DE. He married Mary Frost on 17 May 1758 in Winchester, VA. Mary Frost was born 16 May 1738 probably in VA and died 11 Dec 1809 Newberry Co., SC.

Since William O’Neal was a Quaker he could not join the military however, as many Quakers did he provided supplies, treated injured soldiers and buried the dead. Bydoing this he is credited with providing Patriotic Service to Brigadier General Daniel Morgans men during their Southern Campaign. Record of his Patriotic Service was documented by JohnBelton O’Neall, Chief Justice of the SC Supreme Court, in his book The Annals of Newberry, Historical, Biographical & Anecdotical”. Record of Patriot William O’Neal’s support for the American cause was also documented by re-embursed claims submitted in SC for the supplies he provided.

Patriot William O’Neal was buried in Bush River Quaker Cemetery in Newberry Co., SC.
