- If your Chapter intends to present at wreath at this service, please send me your Chapter’s name, the name of the wreath presenter and their email address. The Compatriot who presents the Chapter wreath does not have to be in a Color Guard uniform. All Chapter Compatriots are invited and encouraged to attend this service.The George Rogers Clark Memorial Service is also a Color Guard activity. Please send the names of all of your Chapter members who will participate in the Color Guard.
- The second event is the manning of the SAR tent on both Saturday and Sunday, 25 and 26 May. We’ve been doing this for several years and, for the past four years, we’ve been inside the Commons at the Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous. This is an excellent opportunity to “meet and greet” the public, particularly young people, and recruit new members. If you have Compatriots who would like to help man the SAR tent, they will need to notify me at least 30 days before this event.
- There are specific requirements for attending the Color Guard activities which include the following.
- NO polyester uniforms since this is a National Park Service regulation.
- NO medals on uniforms, coat or hat.
- NO sunglasses.
- At the SAR tent in the Commons, NO lawn chairs. Equipment must be historically correct. Benches, stools and chairs must be historically correct. We will have bales of hay for seats.
- If you are wearing cartridge boxes and/or carrying firelocks, NO live cartridges are allowed on the premises.
- If you bring edged weapons, they should be in a sheath at all times.
Food, drinks or items you purchase can be stored inside the SAR tent.
