(abt. 1748 – 06 Mar 1824)

Henry O’Daniel was born about 1752 in Virginia. He married Jane Elizabeth Thompson 22 Dec 1771 in Orange Co., North Carolina. An interesting fact about Henry is that he served on both sides of the Revolution! He joined the British in an expedition around Hillsborough, Orange Co., NC but decided this was wrong and then petitioned the Governor of NC on 19 Aug 1781 to forgive him for this transgression. Henry received a pardon on 25 Aug 1781 from NC Governor Burke with the condition that he join the NC Militia forces under General Butler. He then served as a Private in the NC Militia.

Henry O’Daniel died 16 Oct 1829 in Orange Co., NC where his Will was probated in Nov 1829.

Note: His son, Joshua O’Daniel, Sr. migrated to Christian Co., KY about 1812.
