James Colvin was born about 1740 in a part of VA that later became a part of PA. He married Barbara Decker (Kuykendal), daughter of John/Jan Decker, another proven Patriot. He served as a Private in the 13th VA Regiment (Continental Line) for 3 yrs. (W2884 VA). He enlisted on 20 Jan 1777 and was discharged on 16 Mar 1780. James died in late 1802 or early 1803 in Christian Co., KY as evidenced by his Will which was probated in 1803 (See Christian Co., KY Will Book “A”, pp. 16-17 for the Will and Will Book “A”, pp. 41-43 for Estate Settlement).
